Los Mayas difieren entre sì y difieren con los castellano-hablantes, porque hablan idiomas diferentes y se identifican con el grupo de donde provienen.

poseedores de estas lenguas no solo son líderes en la protección
del medio ambiente, sino que además sus idiomas representan sistemas
complejos de conocimientos y deben reconocerse como un recurso
nacional estratégico.
Los
pueblos indígenas fomentan y promueven culturas, costumbres y
valores locales singulares que se han mantenido durante miles de
años.
Las
lenguas contribuyen a la rica trama de la diversidad cultural
mundial. Sin ellas, el mundo sería definitivamente un lugar más
pobre.
Muchos de nosotros damos por descontado que podemos vivir y ejercer nuestros derechos en nuestra lengua materna sin limitaciones ni prejuicios. Pero este no es el caso para todos.

El aprendizaje de idiomas es un proceso activo, que comienza desde el vientre materno y continua a lo largo de nuestra vida.
Muchos niños del mundo, aprenden varios idiomas al mismo tiempo. Una familia Kaqchikel con Q’anjob’al, viviendo en la capital y por razones laborales tienen que enviar a su hija a la guarderìa bilingüe (Castellano-Inglès) tendràn hijos multilingües si se lo proponen. Aprenderàn Kaqchikel y Q’anjob’al con los padres, castellano en el ambiente e inglès en la escuela.
Se pueden formar niños cuatrilingües desde el inicio de la vida.
