El Tocado
El pelo representa belleza, el tocado realza esa belleza.
El tocado le da al personaje status, jeràrquico, social y religioso.
Desde la època prehispànica, se observan personas tanto femeninas como masculinas en murales, estelas, vasijas y còdices con sus tocados; que dan a conocer su rango dentro de la sociedad.
Los tocados se llaman tocas, cofias o albanegas, bonetes, rollos y sombreros; estos ùltimos traidos a la usansa europea del siglo XV.
En Guatemala los tocados pueden ser llevados con el pelo suelto, recogido, trenzado, con canelones o enrollado. Se complementan con cintas, listones, cordones de lana, tecoyales de tapicerìa y tzutes que se llevan amarrados alrededor de la cabeza de los hombres y en las mujeres se dobla y coloca encima de la cabeza.
Los güipiles se colocan igual que los velos, quedan colgando sobre la espalda siendo el màs reciente el sombrero. Las cintas o tecoyales terminan en pompones o borlas, acordonadas, trenzadas o enlazadas en cadenas.
