Este yo, fabricado por la mente, se siente incompleto y precario. Por eso el temor y el deseo son sus emociones predominantes y sus fuerzas motivadoras.
Los hàbitos mentales favoritos del ego, los que le fortalecen, son la queja y la reactividad. Ello hace que los demàs, o la situaciòn, esten «equivocados» mientras que tù «tienes razòn». Teniendo razòn te sientes superior, y sintièndote superior fortaleces tu sentido del yo. En realidad solo estàs fortaleciendo la ilusiòn del ego. El sentido del yo caracterìstico del ego necesita el conflicto, porque su identidad separada se fortalece al luchar contra esto o lo otro, al demostrar que esto soy «yo» y eso no soy «yo».
